10 Ways to Stay Committed to Your Fitness Goals

One of the most popular New Year’s resolutions that people always have is to get in great shape at the beginning of the year. People start very strong, but slowly the excitement fades away. The year ends and it is back to square one all over again. If you were able to stay on track all this year, I want to congratulate you. If you did not, then it is time to re-focus and commit again. I challenge you to finish the year strong and have momentum for the January 2012. Here are ten ways to help you stay focused and committed the whole time.

1. Write down your goal and visualize it daily:

You must have a clear and realistic goal of what you want to accomplish. Write it down everyday as if it already came true, put a date on it, and refuse to fail. For example you can say something like: “I am extremely happy to weigh 180 pounds and have 7% body-fat by December 31st 2011 or something better”. Write down your goals every single day in the morning as soon as you wake up, and at night right before you go to bed. By writing them down you will activate the law of attraction, and your goals will become a reality if you are willing to pay the price to achieve them. Visualize your goal daily and imagine how great you will feel once you have achieved it. Imagine what clothes you will be able to wear, imagine yourself at the beach, and imagine yourself with a lot more confidence.

2. Prepare your meals ahead of time:

Eating healthy creates 80% percent of your fitness results. The other 20% comes from exercise and proper sleep. Be ready to invest in your nutrition and spend sometime preparing your meals. Think of your body as a top of the line car, you would not put cheap gas into your top of the line car, right? So why are you going to put junk food into your body? Always fuel your body with the best options available. The best way to do this is to always be in control of your nutrition. Schedule a couple of days in the week to prepare and pack your meals. 3. Do not get attached to the results:

If you don’t see results in the first week, don’t get discouraged. It can take up to 30-45 days to really start seeing your body change. If you are overweight, you did not get overweight in one week right? So don’t except to loose all the weight in one week either. Don’t use the scale as your only way to measure your results. Use a measuring tape to measure your chest, shoulders, arms, waist, legs, and calves. Use a caliper to measure your body fat percentage. Always remember that muscle weighs more that fat, so maybe you don’t see the numbers in the scale drop because you are actually gaining muscle. It is a lot better to have a strong solid body that weighs a little more than a flabby body that weighs less. Keep working out 6 times per week, focus on eating healthy, get proper sleep, and the results will come. The body has no other option, but to start burning fat and building muscle.

4. Be consistent:

Consistency is the key to achieving any goal you set your mind to. Keep showing up day after day and just do your best. You will eventually get better and better with time. Always remember that “Romewas not built in a day and neither was your body” Tony Horton.

5. Make your fitness a priority:

Schedule all your workouts in a calendar and make an appointment with yourself. You wouldn’t miss a dentist or doctor appointment, right? So don’t miss any workout appointments with yourself. If you can, I recommend working out first thing in the morning as soon as you wake up. This way you will make sure that you get your workout done, and you do not have to worry about it in the afternoon. Also in case you miss the morning workout, you can always make it up after work. The point is to make sure you do get your workout in daily. Eliminate phrases like “I don’t fee like working out” or “I will try to workout.” Workout because you “said” you would do it, not because you “feel” like it. Nothing worthwhile in this life was ever accomplished because you “tried” or because you “felt” like it. It’s going to take 100% serious commitment to achieve your goals, but I know you can do it.

6. Join a fitness challenge:

A challenge is a great way to keep you accountable in your workouts. Everyone in the challenge does the same workout program, starts on the same day, has very similar goals, and supports each other during the whole duration of the challenge. There’s always a coach in charge of the group, someone that already has done the program, and can guide the members of the group to reach their goals. It is also a great way to meet new amazing people and make new friends.

7. Attend a free fit club:

Fit clubs are a great way to keep you motivated. There are a ton of free Team Beachbody Fit Clubs all around the USA. By attending a Fit Club, you will meet amazing people and make new friends. The energy in a Fit Club event is amazing. Everyone works out hard while having fun at the same time. You can always bring your family and friends. 8. Get a free coach:

Team Beachbody has a ton of awesome coaches that can help you reach your fitness goals for free. A coach will keep you accountable in your workout program. 9. Mix things up:

Try something new to keep you motivated all the time. If you do the same thing over and over again, you will eventually get bored. Always look for new and exciting challenges. If you completed one full round of P90X, then you can do one round of Insanity, then you can do a hybrid and combine both P90X and Insanity. Always look for different ways to keep the workouts interesting. You can add yoga, swimming, running, etc. The more you mix things up, the more interesting it gets and the more likely you are to keep working out.

10. Have fun:

Just have fun and enjoy working out. If you make it fun, you will be able to stick with your workouts a lot easier. Choose a program that’s really fun for you and complete it. If what you are doing is not fun for you, then it is not really worth doing it. Beachbody offers a variety of programs for everyone and make sure you pick the best one for you.
